February 2009
Valentine's Day and every 2nd Saturday of the month, various art galleries and studios located downtown participate with an "Open House" called Second Saturdays. It is a great opportunity to check out some cool artwork and the artists are often on hand to discuss their work or answer any questions you have. Best of all, it is all free!

Come see what special events are happening at the shops in New Hope February 14th from 5 - 9pm or later...
Win Free Parking every weekend in 2010 - Beginning on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, February 14, The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce - in conjunction with New Hope Borough Council, First National Bank & Trust Company of Newtown and George E. Michael & Co, Inc./Union Square, L.P. - sponsors a contest encouraging visitation to New Hope’s monthly “Second Saturdays” events. One grand prize winner receives free weekend parking for the entire year at Union Square in 2010 (after 6:00 p.m. on Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday).

During each “Second Saturday” celebration from February through November 2009, one lucky visitor to New Hope wins a “Golden Ticket.” This ticket offers its winner a chance to be placed in a drawing for the free weekend parking. The ten ticket holders in 2009 also receive a $10.00 roll of quarters from First National Bank & Trust Co. of Newtown, a complimentary dinner at Marsha Brown Creole Kitchen and shopping discounts at Christmas Past. The drawing for the grand prize winner takes place at the Holiday Kick-Off and Tree Lighting on November 29, 2009 at The Logan Inn.

“Everybody needs a gimmick!” states Louis Licitra, Chamber President. “This is our way to make New Hope an even more exciting destination and provide someone with a chance to have free parking for a year. ‘Second Saturdays’ in New Hope has been an increasingly popular event with even more fun yet to come.”

The Chamber Board will secretly distribute ten tickets to various New Hope merchants. Upon processing a purchase at a designated time during each “Second Saturday,” the merchant will award one customer with the “Golden Ticket.”

The contest is open to all visitors and shoppers. The ticket holders and grand prize winner must allow their name and image to be used in contest promotion. New Hope business owners as well as their employees and families; Borough officials, Borough employees and families; and Chamber Board members, Chamber employees and families may not be awarded winning tickets.

A unique production of Romeo and Juliet - JK Productions is presenting a unique production of Romeo and Juliet beginning February 13, 2009 at New Hope Arts Center, 2 Stockton Avenue (corner of Stockton & Bridge) in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The new production company is the dream of young thespian JaQuinley Kerr. New Hope has connected them with area mentors who can assist her in her endeavor and provided her with the venue.

It's important to understand this is JaQuinley's vision. We have really only served as a facilitator while JaQuinley has established a budget, interviewed professionals like Director Alana Caraccio, auditioned actors and has played a very traditional producing role. Quite an endeavor (and education) for a 20 year old actor, explains New Hope Arts Center Executive Director.
  .
The JK actors and staff are experienced and accomplished. The cast includes two Barrymore Award nominees and three Society of American Fight Directors-qualified Actor Combatants. The Director, Alana Caraccio, began her career working for Joseph Papp at New York's Shakespeare in the Park before going on to found and direct her own New York theater company for fifteen years. The Fight Director has been choreographing stage combat professionally for over 20 years. The Costume Designer has assisted at Philadelphia's Wilma Theater, as well as working as costume designer for a Bucks County toy manufacturer and maintaining her own design studio. The Lighting Designer is currently an apprentice at the Walnut St. Theatre.

Performances are scheduled: February 13,14, 20,& 21 at 8pm, February 15 at 7pm, and February 22 at 4pm. For information and reservations contact JK Production 609-397-8403 or jaquinley@comcast.net or simply mail a check, payable to New Hope Arts, to 49 Worman Rd., Stockton, NJ 08559. Tickets are also available at Angels, W. Bridge Street Shopping Center in New Hope, Phillips' Wines, Bridge Street in Stockton, New Jersey and LAD & Co. in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
