END OF YEAR RAMBLINGS
Thank you to all who emailed me about my mistake last month. For those of you who didn't notice - I goofed on the November newsletter and put up old events and the October's Free Drawing. Sorry about that. I was using the previous month's newsletter as a template and forgot to update EVERYTHING. It is good to know my ego has nowhere to go - not with all of you out there to keep me honest and humble.
I receive even more emails from people giving me positive comments and words of encouragement. I am grateful for and touched by these emails. THANKYOU folks. You know who you are!

A couple of years ago in my December newsletter I wrote about "seeing my abs again." Anybody remember that message? I had all intentions of looking in the mirror within a year and seeing a six pack stomach (well, maybe a five pack.) Silly me. Little did I realize that exercise alone will not make these muscles magically appear out of nowhere. First, one must set free the abundance of fat cells that have surrounded those muscles for way too many years. Since that newsletter I have worked on setting them free - releasing them to go forth and multiply - on someone else's body! Alas. Though some of the fat cells have left (permanently, I hope), many stayed behind, too sad, I guess, to leave their comfortable home. So, here I stand in front of mirror and still no abs in sight. The good news is that now at least I can FEEL them. I guess my Pilates workouts have done SOME good (thank you Bob!) And, hallelujah, some days I can even make my stomach flat if I suck it in till my eyes pop.

I have had some requests to provide an update on my dog, Lexi. I could tell at least one story a day, so I haven't wanted to bore you with too many Lexi stories. So, for those who want an update, how about our venture in the snow last weekend.
Like the rest of you, I woke up Sunday morning to an ocean of white outside. I opened the garage door to start shoveling the snow and to let Lexi out to pee. Normally, Lexi trots over to the grass alongside the driveway and squats right away. This day, however, there was no green in site. I have no idea what goes through that little brain of hers. She must have assessed the situation in less time than I did because, before I had even picked up the snow shovel, she squatted and peed in the snow not 6 inches from the garage door!
Later in the day I was sitting at my desk working on the computer when I heard Lexi whining. She doesn't whine often - only when she wants something or wants to play. I got up and found her in the spare room. There she was, whining and staring at the ironing board, where, the day before I had put 2 new doggie toys, ready to be wrapped for Christmas. How does she even remember that they are there? Amazing.

I cannot give up an opportunity to talk about Winter Festival. I hold a special place in my heart for Winter Festival because it has a balanced number of activities on both sides of the river. And this year there are some new events. Make sure you check out all of the activites on www.WinterFestival.net.
