______________ NEW HOPE IS CHANGING! I hope you all had a lovely and patriotic 4th of July. I went out of town for a couple of days, only to return to newly paved streets. (For those of you who haven’t been here for a while, we have been dealing with a lot of digging on the streets to install new water lines. Driving one’s car on the torn up streets was akin to roller skating on gravel.) Very interesting going away for a couple of days. Driving through New Hope last night, I saw the town in a whole new light, noticing things that, for months, I have been driving right by without taking note. The Borough’s Rvitalization Committee has just about finished beautifying the Ferry Street Landing, the Free Bridge is OPEN, the streets are like new, there are new stores and restaurants – tempting treats to draw visitors new and old to our great community, and work on the new museum is coming along nicely. If you haven't been here for a while, or even if you come often, look and really SEE the next time you stop by. You may be surprised at the treasures you've missed ______________ MESSAGE BOARD Make sure you take a moment to look at our Message Board. People are leaving messages every month. Take a look - see if you can help someone with a much needed response. ______________ SPONSORS I hope you take time to check out the businesses that pay to list on our website (they are the ones with website links.) Their support is what keeps this website going! Please help me to thank them - visit and shop at these shops and stores. Tell them MARILYN sent you! ______________ (click on the Faces & Places logo to be taken directly to the Faces & Places page) Horoscope: Looks like this month is a great month for most of the Sun Signs (I like my horoscope this month - Aquarius - in any case.) Make sure you check out your own horoscope - prepared, of course, by Jani Allan. Local Color: I had a nice surprise in June. I received an email from Linda Camac-Leonelli who had written about her own experience of Smarty Jones, the Kentucky Derby winning race horse that resides right here in Bucks County. Read her story. The Arts: Again we feature Showcase the Arts, coming up soon - the weekend of July 9 thru 11. Showcase is presented by New Hope Arts, Inc. Around
Town: For
the 2nd year, the New Hope Historical Society and the New Hope-Solebury
High School (NHSHS) present a series of essays written by the students
of the Social Studies honors class. This month features an essay on
the New Hope Impressionists as well as a painting by one of NHSHS's
own artists! Recipe
of the Month: Tricia Grindel, our Resources for Wellness
humorist, offers a Southern delectible - Bone Suckin' Pork Chops. ___________ FREE MONTHLY DRAWING! This month's Free Monthly Drawing is two tickets to the Bucks County Playhouse - good for any show this season - a $48 value. Last Month's Winner of popular botanical favorites (Sesame Seed Foam Bath and a Flax Seed Soap Bar,) as well as a $25.00 in store Gift Certificate from Bucks County Bath and Body Works was Terry DiMeglio. Congratulations Terry! Stay cool and enjoy July! Until next month... Your friendly editor,
