HEROS IN THE FAMILY
Last weekend I took a quick trip to Pittsburgh, which is where I was born and lived many years of my early life. My sister, who lives outside of Atlanta, GA, was visiting my mom, so we had a family reunion of sorts. (I also got to visit with my brother and my father and that was very special.)
The really sad and frustrating part of the trip was seeing my mom having to care for her alzheimer-suffering husband. He was not the sweetest guy BEFORE he got alzheimers. Imagine nastiness multiplied by about a hundred! My mom is a saint and I admire and respect her for her devotion and patience. She is my hero.
Whenever I start to complain about my own issues, all I have to do is remember the many heros we have in our own families, our neighborhoods, and, of course, the military heros here and abroad.
This Memorial Day, let us offer our thanks and repect to heros of all kinds. If you are one of them - Thank you!
A BIRTHDAY AND A BOOK
Sunday, May 29th is my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday, Trish.
Trish has been writing a book for a lot more years than she cares to reveal. It is called True Grits, A Yankee's View of the South. It is a true (and very funny) story based on her move to the South tweny some years ago and stories about the intervening years. I told Trish I wanted to publish some of her book so that she could get some feedback from us Yanks. So, here is a short exerpt. To read more, click on the link that follows. To give feedback to my sister, email her at email@example.com and wish her Happy Birthday while you are at it!

BUCKS COUNTY HERALD ON-LINE
If you go to the website, you will notice a new link in the right-hand column. I have put a link to the Bucks County Herald's digital edition of their newspaper. Sometimes I get phone or email requests from people out of state looking for information on people, events, real estate, what have you. By going to the Herald's on-line newspaper, you can view not only the current issue, but you can search past issues as far back as 2003!
